Precision measuring device for measuring mass and volume flow.

General

Precise mass flow measurement and volume flow measurement are combined in the MVF-30 device. The device displays both measured values at the same time. The measuring principle of the device ensures high accuracy and stability. Thanks to its accuracy and two measuring ranges, the device is equally suitable for measuring very small and also larger amounts of air in the laboratory and in operation (in research and in industry). Areas of application include control and calibration of volume or mass flow sensors, test leaks and leak testers, leakage and flow measurements. The device can be delivered with a factory test certificate or with a DKD certificate. This means that the measurements can be traced back to the national standards.

Function

The MVF-30 works based on calorimetric measurement methods. The measuring air flows through the sensor. The measuring air transports heat from a heated resistor to a temperature measuring resistor and causes a temperature change. The heat transfer is proportional to the mass flow. The measurement signal obtained from the temperature change indicates with high precision the mass of the amount of air flowing through. The measurement result is independent of the gas temperature and the pressure of the air. The calibration of the device is valid for air.
The device also measures the temperature and absolute pressure of the air flowing through. Using the temperature and pressure measurements, the device calculates the volume flow value from the mass flow.

The measuring method used is a well-known, reliable, exact method for accurately measuring mass and volume flow.
The measuring method ensures high measuring accuracy in a wide temperature and pressure range.

The measurements are carried out continuously, in contrast to many other measuring devices that work cyclically, e.g. by filling or emptying known volumes. The continuous measurement method enables changes or irregularities in the flow to be observed. The user does not need to worry about the temperature or pressure of the gas or the barometric pressure. The measured values of the mass flow in standard liters/hour or in standard cubic centimeters/minute and the volumetric flow in liters/hour or in cubic centimeters/minute are displayed simultaneously and continuously.

The high resolution (0.001 nl/hour or 0.01 nccm/min.) and the two large measuring ranges enable the measurement of both small and larger flow rates and leaks with high accuracy and stability.

The measured flow values can be displayed either per hour in nl/h (l/h) or per minute in nccm/min. (ccm/min) are displayed. The desired measurement variable can be selected using a rotary encoder.

The device also displays air pressure (absolute pressure, versus vacuum) and air temperature. Both sizes are measured directly in the air flow.
The measuring principle enables fast response times. A measurement takes less than 0.5 seconds.

The high pressure resistance of the device (8 bar) enables the air flowing into the test object (direct measurement) or the air flowing out of the test object (indirect measurement) to be measured as required.

Because of its high resolution and accuracy, coupled with its lightweight design, 4×20-digit display and easy operation, the device can be used equally in the laboratory or on site, in research and development or in service and testing.

Technical description

All important functions in the device are controlled by a microprocessor.

The measured values are read on a 4 x 20-digit LCD display. The scope of the display enables the simultaneous display of two measurement results, the display of function or error messages and makes the device easy to operate.

The device has a rotary encoder with which the individual items in the operating menu can be selected. All functions are controlled by the rotary encoder and two buttons.

The display can be “frozen”, i.e. the last measured value is recorded in the display (“Hold” function). This means that the measurement value can be read in peace.

A measured value memory enables the recording of a larger number of measurement results.

The device has a serial interface that allows the measured values to be printed out on a printer or transferred to a PC. The measuring device has a simple command set/transfer protocol that enables the data to be read out by a PC.

A zero point correction can easily be carried out automatically using the menu.
The device is housed in an attractive metal housing. A carrying handle, which also serves as a stand, is part of the standard equipment.
The device is powered by the mains.
